Men.Com will begin requiring performers to undergo full panel testing. They are by no means the only studio that requires testing for models . It is certainly a sensitive area for many people in the porn industry and a topic that begets many strong opinions. I asked Men.Com several questions about the policy and the Public Relations department sent this press release:</>
MANWIN (Men.com) SETS NEW PRODUCTION STANDARDS
Encourages Stricter Regulations for Producers, Performers, AgentsJune 12, 2012 – Montreal, Canada
Manwin has decided to set new best practices regulations for all performers and third party producers hired to create content for its websites.
In its proposal, Manwin supports the system put in place by the APHSS, while also moving beyond the standard industry practice of 30-day interval testing. The APHSS has set forward a best practices guideline and system that allows performers, producers, and agents to create a controlled work environment.
It includes consistent standards and guidelines for testing and treatment of adult performers, a secure database that ensures performer privacy and protects producer liability, protocol for performer support in the event of a positive HIV test result – including testing of 1st and 2nd generation partners – as well as health and safety resources provided for producers and performers.
Following months of research, and meetings with various doctors and medical experts from the most respected universities and health institutions in North America, Manwin has decided to implement additional rules for anyone involved in producing content for its sites.
The company will require FDA approved tests from the clinics listed on the APHSS.org website, specifically the HIV-1 Aptima RNA Qualitive Assay. In addition, the company will require 15-day interval testing for performers.
As of July 1st, 2012, adult entertainers performing in scenes commissioned for websites belonging to Manwin will have to provide health tests that are no older than 15 days. Manwin will pay for all additional tests needed under these new rules, in case a performer works for any of the company’s brands multiple times in a 30-day period.
Manwin expects producers, performers, and agents to be in full compliance with these new regulations, and looks forward to working with the FSC in setting the highest possible standards for the industry.
The PR department also said further comments will not be made since this is a new policy and will need time to take effect.
I have asked several other industry insider’s opinions and all requested to be kept off the record. One such opinion was ” In your personal life you don’t always know the status of your partner that’s why you use condoms and that condom use keeps models safe.”
I tend to agree with this line of thinking. I think as long as condoms are being used testing is unnecessary for model safety on set. I DO think models should have the right to request to be paired with tested scene partners if they feel that’s an issue.
Another point many people bring up is this; if testing insures model safety why not produce condom less porn? I noticed Sean Cody got a lot of criticism for going bareback, but they have strict testing procedures according to their website. Does that make them less concerned about model safety? I am also curious to know what the procedure will be if a model tests positive. Will they be paired with other positive models or prohibited from filming?
Just some food for thought. I see both sides of the issue and like anything else I think debate and discussion always brings about good things.
PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR OPINION DOWN BELOW IN THE COMMENTS!
MY OPINION: While I think condoms are enough to protect performers on set , I think the extra testing is not a bad thing since everyone should know his or her status and if this encourages a person to get tested more frequently that’s a net plus for me.

I think testing is good to have because you never know your status of porn perfumers its better to be safe then sorry down the road

My opinion is like yours Marc, why not be extra safe not just to wear condoms but to be fully safe. I see the men, rim (you never know someone might not a clean bum or cuts on there hole, not usual but it happens), eat one anothers semen, and what if the condom breaks…. So being extra precautions isn’t over kill or kills the mood even in “real life” it doesn’t if those who don’t wish to commit then go away and let the ones who have nothing to hide show themselves with pride.

I also agree Marc . Better safe than sorry . For there are models that do not play it safe off the set so
extra precautions needed to keep models safe .
Marcdylanblog says
hey tommy, do condoms not keep models safe?
Smithschooter says
hey marc: just curious, do they test for HPV or Herpes? those can be caught even with a condom i thought
Marcdylanblog says
hey , i think you are right both can be caught even with a condom. I will inquire as to what all they test for in addition to HIV. I believe it will be full panel . What are your opinions on the issue?
Donbaylor says
What do you think about vaccinations as an additional/replacement form of protection as they become available? HPV can be vaccinated against. Needles suck, but 2-3 times and you’re good.
Curious says
But you have done bareback scenes? Haven’t you?
Bob says
But there are more diseases, not only HIV… and some sex acts are so dangerous for health too, like “ass to mouth”, which can make you suffer gastroenteritis or even catch hepatitis… How doy you prevent of all this in you a2m scenes?
