So I know that a little while ago I had posted a blog saying I was coming back soon. That was very true. The only problem with that was the definition of the word “soon” was somewhat extended by two very irritating problems. Lets start with the story of the first one, which was the dead dead internet connection. Ok, now, I know a few things about computers. Not a great deal, but I like to think that I am able to manage the basics of having a computer and getting onto the internet. Well, it seems that even if you are, or have a friend who IS a genuinely tech savvy person, complete with college degree in just that, there are times when you get that perfect storm of crappy combinations that really just screw with you. It seems that somehow I did not get the notice that my ISP was going to be doing maintenance and some upgrading. Ok, fine, about a week of that making my internet slow and intermittent and things seemed to be running normal again. Hurray! Then I find that everything is going right back to the way it was during the “maintenance” and after calling about it, I narrow the problem down to a dying modem. Ok, this is sort of a catch 22 problem to deal with, since I would normally just find the best one I can online and order the replacement, but the modem being on the verge of death, and sometimes wanting to work and sometimes just being and expensive plastic box in the corner was really aggravating. After giving up and finally finding one on clearance sale at an actual store, that thankfully met my requirements, I finally accomplished restoring my internet to its regular functional state. Actually, since my ISP did its upgrades things run a little smoother, which is quite nice. A couple of days later, I was craving something deep friend and tasty decided that since it was no longer raining and the sun was out, a quick ride out on the motorcycle to get lunch was a nice idea. It was, right up until the point where I apparently hit an oil puddle someone left in the parking lot. So I learned that the equation for a lousy day is oil puddle + being really hungry and then multiplied by getting bruised bruised up and down and getting road rash = lousy day. Needless to say I wasn’t exactly up for getting back on camera for a few days. First my internet crashed, then my modem crashed, then I finally crashed. I have always heard that things happen in threes, so that means that I’m done with the crashing now, right? The good news is that I wasn’t seriously injured, and thankfully there was no major damage to the motorcycle. Well I hope all of you are safe and sound and doing well and I will be back sooner than you think. Trev
