Hey guys. I’m finishing up my trip to NYC and boy has it been a fun and crazy month. Its has been a really amazing time here. I met and played with some really hot boys. Made a new friend out with an amazingly sexy dancer. I will write more about all that soon enough. One of the highlights of my trip here was going to the 11th Annual LIVE OUT LOUD Gala event with my friend Mickey Boardman from Paper Magazine. This organization is really fantastic, its helps the young gay community in many ways including mentoring and providing scholarships. I heard the speeches of this years five scholarship recipients. Let me tell you these guys and girls are a treasure to the LGBT community! Its really great to see these people just coming out of high school representing our community so well. I certainly hope you will click on this link and take the time to learn about this organization and make a donation if possible.
“What we lack in the LGBT world is positive role models,” said Alan Cumming, Emmy-nominated star of The Good Wife on CBS. “Now, more than ever, if you’re out and proud and strong, it’s important to let our young Brothers and Sisters know that life is good and we are happy to be who we are. It’s important to speak out and get your message to the kids who need it most. It’s for all our good.”
A highlight of this year’s gala was the awarding of $5,000 scholarships to five high school seniors in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills within their communities. Live Out Loud also honored leaders who have supported the organization over the years and served as role models for LGBT youth. Other honorees include Deutsch / A Lowe & Partners Company, which received the inaugural Corporate Leadership Award, and Bruce T. Sloane, who received the Founders Award.
