So I’ve returned from my vacation thoroughly sunned (although still pale) and nicely rested. I made some new friends in New Orleans, one of which was a beautiful burlesque dancer. She took me to a great party with a bunch of locals who live, as she called it, “a celebratory life.” Essentially they were a bunch of poly, modern hippy burner types. Cool people for sure, although a bit aimlessly hedonistic for my tastes. Also took home a couple bottles of Old New Orleans Crystal Rum, which is delicious. Also, she took me to a great bath house. It was a friendly place that had people of all orientations, although it was overwhelmingly gay and lesbian. I felt right at home in such a sexually open environment. On the second leg of the trip I saw some friends in Florida. We hit the beach, of course, as well as a sweet water park. Unfortunately I always feel a bit uncomfortable in Florida. Their politics, racism, and the punitive nature of their criminal justice system scare me. I’ve just heard too many horror stories about people getting arrested there and charged with crazy stuff… Anyway, sorry to get all sociologist on you. All in all a great trip with good friends and lovers, old and new.
