   Hi Marc, Just a couple comments for Alvis from my perspective, if I may ? Being almost 60 and never having had the need or desire to come out “officially” , yet I still understand and appreciate the dilemma he may face. Being only 19, perhaps Alvis is still struggling with his identity and “how gay he might be” ? Does he have a subtle attraction towards guys or his he bursting out his seams to come out of the closet dressed like Carmen Miranda singing Liza Minnelli showtunes ? I have friends and acquaintances that for over 50 years are clueless to my interest. I do not feel repressed or deceptive. The subject or question of sexuality never comes up in conversation. If it does, a simple ” Maybe after a couple beers, I’d do her” or “She is very pretty ” and laugh and go on. Perhaps the friend that to whom Alvis revealed his preference to,is just as confused. Not implying that his buddy is gay or has desires, but quite simply does not want to encourage Alvis or think he is giving a green light to pursue him. Have Alvis turn the situation around and someone may express an interest in him, and the feeling not be mutual. Would continuing a friendship send a wrong signal of perhaps somewhere down the line a possibility exists ? If there is a need to be “GAY” , then hook up with gay organizations, e.g. Pride parade, GLBT events, etc. Eventually one learns not to base friendship solely on sexual preference, but on more meaningful factors. For now Alvis, I feel you have the need to ” Get the gay out” and encourage you to do so and have fun. Re-evaluate the definition of friendship to be inclusive of all.

   Well Marc your straight friends were never really your friends in the first place,i could not reject a friend if they told
   me they were gay straight people are so unforgiving sometimes!!
