Question from Justin regarding bullying. I say don’t sweaty the small stuff, but always report any situation where you feel your safety is in danger or the bullying is severe. Spend more time focusing on enjoying the great people the world has to offer and not the occasional troll that’s bound to come along.

Hi Marc,
I am a huge fan of yours. I finally accepted my sexuality at age 51 after a long marriage ended in divorce and I delved into understanding my true nature. I have found your work and advice to inspirational, motivational, intelligent, and respectful on many levels.
On the subject of bullying, I am glad you did not have to experience it as a child or youth. I did and it was horrific. My experience in the conservative midwest occurred (because of my age) when adults did not come to your defense. Many felt that if you were being bullied you deserved it and others were doing their part in “thinning the herd” of weak links.
When your self-esteem is in the toilet and you’re spending every moment trying to survive the next assault it detracts from using your energy and talents for productive living and it is a tragic and sad existence. I am so glad that our society has made this type of behavior unacceptable and there is now retribution for committing this type of abuse. My advice is to find someone who can help you, that you can talk to, who you can trust, and lead you to the truth that your life is of value and no one has the right to take your sense of safety and dignity from you.
Your advice is sound and well directed. I just want those that don’t have the ability to reason that the bullies are idiots because their energies are spent fending off terror and anxiety have a route to find help and survival. Talk to someone you can trust. If that person doesn’t help, find someone who will. Know that your life is of value and you deserve happiness and dignity.
